The Department is headed by the Director, who legally represents the structure in all respects and ensures its autonomy as well as its cultural coherence.
In order to fulfil its institutional mission, the Department is endowed with organizational and administrative autonomy with regard to all expenditure measures, contractual arrangements, and agreements directly concerning it, with both public and private entities, in compliance with the applicable legal framework. This autonomy excludes, however, the adoption of general administrative measures or decisions pertaining to matters reserved to other governing bodies as identified by the Statute of Sapienza University.
The governing bodies of the Department are the Director, the Department Council, and the Executive Committee.
In the management of departmental activities, the Director is supported by the Administrative Manager (delegated), who is responsible for the Administrative Office and coordinates administrative and accounting functions, assuming joint responsibility with the Director for the resulting administrative acts.
