Seminario della professoressa Irene Finocchi, del Dipartimento di Informatica, Sapienza Università di Roma.    Abstract: The talk will overview my recent research activities, addressing algorithmic and programming issues that arise in the design and implementation of software for mining very large amounts of data. The complex structure and the size of datasets in many emerging applications, as well as the computer systems on which such datasets are often analyzed pose unique challenges, that I will exemplify by discussing two different problems considered during the last few years.
