Lecturers

Michael Greenacre

He is a professor at Pompeu Fabra University and Affiliated Professor of the Barcelona School of Management. His academic work centres around methods for supervised and unsupervised learning of multivariate data. He specialized in correspondence analysis, one of the principal techniques in this field, and has worked mainly with social scientists and ecologists on projects in these areas. He has co-authored more than 100 publications, most of which have appeared in international peer-reviewed statistical journals and is the author or co-editor of more than 10 books on multivariate methods, in particular correspondence analysis and compositional data analysis.

Agostino Di Ciaccio

He is professor at Sapienza University of Rome. He is an expert of supervised learning. His research activity includes data mining, text and web mining, machine learning. He co-authored several publications on the above-mentioned techniques and is the co-author of the book Statistica: Metodologie Per Le Scienze Economiche E Sociali (McGraw Hill).

Paolo Giordani

He is professor at Sapienza University of Rome. His research activity focus on unsupervised learning, in particular methods for dimensionality reduction, (fuzzy) clustering and multiway analysis. He is the author of more than 50 papers published in peer-reviewed statistical journals and he is co-author of a book entitled An Introduction to Clustering with R (Springer). He is Associate Editor of the international journal Advances in Data Analysis and Classification (ADAC).

Roberto Rocci

He is professor at Sapienza University of Rome. His research interest mainly refers to methods for unsupervised learning based on latent variables. He is the author of several publications on dimensionality reduction and/or clustering for complex data structures (multiway, longitudinal, ordinal and mixed data). He is the co-editor of the Handbook of Cluster Analysis (Chapman and Hall/CRC) and some Springer books on classification and data analysis. He has been president of the Classification and Data Analysis Group (CLADAG) and general secretary of the Italian Statistical Society.

Maurizio Vichi

He is professor at Sapienza University of Rome. He is the author of more than 120 publications on unsupervised learning with dimensionality reduction. He is the Editor in Chief of the international journal Advances in Data Analysis and Classification (ADAC). He is the former president of the Federation of European National Statistical Societies (FENStatS) and the International Federation of Classification Societies (IFCS), of the Italian Statistical Society (SIS) and of the Classification and Data Analysis Group (CLADAG).
