Donatella Firmani è Professoressa Associata presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Statistiche della Sapienza Università di Roma. La sua ricerca si colloca all'intersezione tra data management e data science, con un focus particolare sulle tecniche di data cleaning e estrazione delle informazioni: dall'entity resolution alla costruzione di knowledge graph, fino all'apprendimento automatico spiegabile e alla qualità dei dati. Ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in Ingegneria Informatica presso la Sapienza ed è stata ricercatrice visitatrice presso AT&T Labs, dove ha lavorato su problemi di integrazione dei dati e data streaming. I suoi contributi sono stati riconosciuti con due Best Paper Award (IEEE Services Congress 2019, DL4KG 2021) e un Reproducibility Award a SIGMOD 2018. È Associate Editor per l'ACM Journal of Data and Information Quality, membro del Review Board del VLDB Journal, e partecipa regolarmente ai comitati di programma di SIGMOD, VLDB e ICDE. Coordina diversi progetti di ricerca nazionali ed europei, tra cui l'unità Sapienza del progetto H2020 INTEND, focalizzato su operazioni intelligenti sui dati nel computing continuum.

Donatella Firmani is an Associate Professor at the Department of Statistical Sciences at Sapienza University of Rome. Her research sits at the intersection of data management and data science, with a particular focus on data cleaning and information extraction techniques, spanning entity resolution, knowledge graph construction, explainable machine learning, and data quality. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Sapienza and was a visiting researcher at AT&T Labs, where she worked on data integration and data streaming problems. Her work has been recognized with two Best Paper Awards (IEEE Services Congress 2019, DL4KG 2021) and a Reproducibility Award at SIGMOD 2018. She serves as Associate Editor for the ACM Journal of Data and Information Quality, on the Review Board of the VLDB Journal, and regularly participates in the program committees of SIGMOD, VLDB, and ICDE. She leads several national and European research projects, including the Sapienza unit of the H2020 project INTEND, focused on intent-based data operations in the computing continuum.
